Sawtell Bowling & Recreation Club offers a friendly and welcoming bowls community for players of all ages and experience levels. Whether you are an experienced bowler, returning to the sport or trying bowls for the first time, you will find plenty of opportunities to enjoy the game, meet new people and become part of our Club community.

Social Bowls

Our regular social bowls events offer friendly competition in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Both members and visiting bowlers are welcome.

Watsons Major/Minor Pairs Tournament – Two Fantastic Days of Bowls!

Sawtell Bowling Club was proud to host our Watsons Major/Minor Pairs Tournament, with two fantastic days of bowls, great competition and plenty of good sportsmanship on the greens.

It was wonderful to welcome bowlers to Sawtell for the tournament and see our greens full across both days. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the event such an enjoyable and successful weekend.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Watsons Leisure Centre for their valued support and sponsorship of the tournament. Support from our sponsors plays an important part in allowing us to continue hosting great events for our bowling community.

A special thank you also goes to our greenkeepers, bowls organisers, volunteers, bar staff and the Salt & Green Bistro team for keeping everyone well looked after throughout the two days.

Congratulations to all of our winners and place getters, and thank you to every bowler who joined us.

We hope you enjoyed your time at Sawtell Bowling Club, and we look forward to welcoming you back onto the green again soon!

Tournament Nominations

Ready to enter? Download the relevant nomination form or contact our bowls team for assistance Tournament places may be limited, and nominations may close once an event reaches capacity. Early nominations are recommended.

Club Tournaments

Sawtell Bowling & Recreation Club hosts a variety of bowls tournaments and special events throughout the year. Our tournaments welcome local members and visiting bowlers for enjoyable competition in a friendly coastal setting. Events may include nominated pairs, triples, fours, mixed competitions and sponsored tournaments. Upcoming tournament information, including dates, starting times, entry fees, prize money, conditions of play and nomination details, will be published on our website, displayed on the Club noticeboard and shared through our social media pages.

Monday Funday Bowls

Winter season: 2:00pm to 4:30pm Enjoy a friendly afternoon of social bowls during the cooler months. It is a great opportunity to meet other bowlers and start the week with some relaxed competition.

Monday Twilight Bowls

During daylight saving time: 4:30pm to 6:30pm Make the most of the longer evenings with a relaxed and enjoyable game of bowls as the sun goes down over Sawtell.

Tuesday Ladies’ Social Bowls

9:00am to 11:30am Join us on Tuesday mornings for a friendly and enjoyable ladies’ social bowls session. New and visiting bowlers are welcome.

Wednesday Men’s Jackpot Triples

1:00pm to 4:00pm Enjoy an afternoon of friendly competition in our Wednesday Men’s Jackpot Triples.

Friday Mixed Jackpot Triples

1:00pm to 4:00pm Finish the week with our Friday Mixed Jackpot Triples, offering a relaxed afternoon of bowls and friendly competition. Playing times may be subject to weather, green availability and scheduled events. Please contact the Club to confirm nomination details, arrival times and any applicable fees.

Competition Bowls

Sawtell Bowling & Recreation Club participates in club championships, pennant competitions, tournaments and special bowling events throughout the year. Information about upcoming competitions, nominations, playing conditions and results will be displayed at the Club and shared through our website and social media pages.

Club Championships

Our annual Club Championships give eligible bowling members the opportunity to compete across a range of singles, pairs and team events. Nomination forms, draws, conditions of play and results are available from the bowls office or Club noticeboard.

Visiting Bowlers

Visiting bowlers are always welcome at Sawtell Bowling & Recreation Club. Please contact the Club before your visit to confirm green availability, scheduled events and any applicable fees or dress requirements.

New to Bowls?

Lawn bowls is a fun, social and inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. If you have never played before, our friendly bowling members will help you learn the basics and get started. Contact the Club to find out about introductory sessions, coaching opportunities and bowling membership.

Barefoot Bowls

Looking for a relaxed activity for your next celebration, workplace event or social gathering? Barefoot bowls is a fun and easy activity that requires no previous experience. It is perfect for birthdays, family gatherings, community groups, corporate events and casual get-togethers. Bowls equipment can be provided, and catering and beverage options may also be available. Contact our team to discuss group numbers, availability and booking options.
